Catriona Le May Doan is a Canadian former speed skater, born December 23, 1970, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She won the Olympic 500 metre title at the 1998 Nagano Games and successfully defended it at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games, earning the nickname the fastest woman on ice, and also took bronze in the 1,000 metres at Nagano. She was named Canadian Female Athlete of the Year three times and won the Lou Marsh Trophy as Canada top athlete in 2002, and later served as Canada chef de mission at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
