Chlust is a Polish gambling and trick taking card game known primarily in Upper Silesia, sometimes called Silesian poker even though it predates the invention of poker. Its name comes from the splashy sound the cards make when played onto one another, especially when played aggressively. The game dates back more than 200 years and is played by two to four players with a French deck of 20 cards, Aces through Tens, with the Nines sometimes included. Play combines hand ranking and trick taking mechanics with distinctive bidding rounds and wild card rules.
