This dimension links a team or club to the league it actually plays in. Wikipedia notes Real Madrid "competes in La Liga, the top tier of Spanish football," rather than a lower division or a different country's league entirely. Browsing by competition gathers every club that plays in the same league.

FAQs
Why are gymnastics and weightlifting clubs grouped into one subcategory?
Both disciplines are judged on a single measured or scored performance rather than on defeating an opponent directly, the same basis as the parent sport category.
This subcategory groups clubs fielding gymnasts or weightlifters, on the same structural basis as the parent sport subcategory: both are individual disciplines judged on a single measured or scored performance rather than on defeating an opponent directly. Any club or training center organized around either discipline belongs here.
