The ICC was founded 15 June 1909 at Lord's Cricket Ground as the Imperial Cricket Conference by Australia, England and Wales, and South Africa. It was renamed the International Cricket Conference in 1964 and the International Cricket Council in 1989, and relocated headquarters from London to Dubai in 2005. It now has 111 member nations, of which 12 hold full membership. The chairman role was created in 2014, and the presidency was abolished in 2016. In 2017 Afghanistan and Ireland became the eleventh and twelfth full members, and the ICC abolished its affiliate membership tier, converting all remaining affiliates to associate members.
