The Chinese Olympic Committee is the National Olympic Committee for the People's Republic of China, originally founded in 1910 and reconstituted after the People's Republic gained International Olympic Committee recognition in 1979 following a period of non-participation, headquartered in Beijing. It selects and fields China's Olympic team, oversaw the organization of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics and 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, making Beijing the first city to host both, and has presided over a rapid rise in China's Olympic medal standing since the 1980s.
