The British Olympic Association (BOA) is the National Olympic Committee for the United Kingdom, founded in 1905 and headquartered in London, responsible for selecting, funding logistics for, and entering Team GB at the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. Independent of the separate governing bodies for each individual sport, the BOA does not receive UK government funding and instead relies on commercial sponsorship and licensing revenue, and it played a leading organizational role around the London 2012 Summer Olympics, hosted in the city where the association itself is based.
