Valentino Rossi is an Italian former Grand Prix motorcycle racer born in 1979 in Urbino whose top-class career spanned 2000 to 2021. He is a nine time world champion, seven of those titles in the premier 500cc and MotoGP class, won in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009. He holds the record for most premier class victories, 89, and podiums, 199, and is the only road racer to have competed in 400 or more Grands Prix. He was inducted into the MotoGP Hall of Fame as an official Legend by the FIM after the 2021 season.
