Mika Hakkinen is a Finnish racing driver born September 28, 1968, in Vantaa, nicknamed the Flying Finn, who won consecutive Formula One World Drivers Championships in 1998 and 1999 driving for McLaren, defeating Michael Schumacher and Eddie Irvine respectively. Across a Formula One career from 1991 to 2001, mostly with McLaren after starting at Team Lotus, he took 20 Grand Prix victories, 26 pole positions and 51 podium finishes, and he survived a serious crash at the 1995 Australian Grand Prix before returning to championship form. After retiring from Formula One he raced touring cars in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters and later became a television analyst for the sport.
