Nelson Piquet is a Brazilian racing driver born August 17, 1952, in Rio de Janeiro, who won three Formula One World Drivers Championships, in 1981 and 1983 with Brabham and in 1987 with Williams, taking 23 Grand Prix victories, 60 podium finishes and 24 pole positions across a fourteen season career from 1978 to 1991. Before Formula One he dominated Formula Three racing, and after his Grand Prix career he competed at the Indianapolis 500 in 1992 and 1993 and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1996 and 1997, later founding the GPS vehicle tracking company Autotrac in 1992.
