Wiz-War

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Wiz-War is a strategy board game designed by Tom Jolly and first published in 1985 by Jolly Games, often described as a beer-and-pretzels style game. It is a turn-based dungeon game for two to five players lasting fifteen to sixty minutes, in which each player controls a wizard who begins with fifteen life points and tries to steal the other wizards' treasures using spells and magical tools. The dungeon is built from modular board segments that form a labyrinth different in every game and can even be rearranged during play through certain cards. Spell and action cards drive most of the gameplay, and victory comes either through successfully stealing treasure or eliminating opposing wizards. After Jolly Games, the game was published in turn by Chessex from 1993 to 2010, Fantasy Flight Games in 2012, and Steve Jackson Games in 2023.
