Sentinels of the Multiverse

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Sentinels of the Multiverse is a cooperative card game designed by Christopher Badell, Adam Rebottaro and Paul Bender and published by Greater Than Games, first released at Gen Con in 2011, in which three to five players control a team of comic book style superheroes battling a villain. Each participant manages one or more hero decks while a villain deck and an environment deck operate through their own automated rules, so the game needs no separate opposing player. The base game shipped with ten heroes, four villains and four environments that can be freely mixed and matched, letting the same core rules produce a large number of distinct matchups and difficulty levels drawing on conventions familiar from superhero comics published by companies such as DC and Marvel. The game's popularity led to numerous expansions adding further heroes, villains and environments, as well as a digital video game adaptation released on multiple platforms.
