Samurai is a German-style tile-laying board game invented by Reiner Knizia, first distributed in 1998 in Germany by Abacus and in the United States by Rio Grande Games, with a Chinese edition later released by the Wargames Club. Two to four players aged ten and up place influence tokens around hexagonal figurines representing rice fields, Buddhas and samurai helmets scattered across Japan's four main islands, aiming to gain majority control of each figurine through bidding-style token placement in sessions lasting about forty-five minutes.
