Calico is a tile-placement board game designed by Kevin Russ, first released through a 2020 Kickstarter campaign by Flatout Games before Alderac Entertainment Group brought it to retail. Between one and four players build a personal quilt board by placing hexagonal tiles bearing one of six fabric patterns and colors, drawing replacement tiles from a shared market of six options each turn. Points accumulate three ways: forming button sets of three connected same-colored tiles regardless of pattern, satisfying the pattern preferences of cats that settle onto matching tile arrangements, and completing secretly assigned goal tiles that reward specific pattern shapes. The player with the highest combined score at the end of the game wins. Its quilt-and-cat theme and modular scoring objectives give the otherwise abstract tile-laying puzzle a distinctive, approachable identity.
