Cytosis is a cell biology themed worker placement board game designed by John Coveyou and published in 2017 by Genius Games, with illustrations by Tomasz Bogusz. The game's development was funded through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter before its full release. Two to five players take on the role of specialized proteins working inside a human cell, sending their worker pieces to different regions of the cell board to gather resources, manufacture enzymes and hormones, and manage the cell's ongoing biological processes, competing to run their cell's operations more effectively than their rivals. A typical game runs sixty to ninety minutes and is recommended for players aged ten and up, and it is part of a wider line of biology and science themed titles from Genius Games that use board game mechanics such as worker placement to represent real cellular processes like protein synthesis in a form intended to also teach players the underlying science.
