The Settlers of Zarahemla is a licensed adaptation of the German board game Catan, designed by Catan's original creator Klaus Teuber and published in 2003 by Uberplay under its Inspiration Games imprint. Its setting and theme are drawn from the Book of Mormon, renaming Catan's resources, settlements and roads to fit the world described in that text. Gameplay in Zarahemla otherwise closely follows the original Catan rules: two to four players collect and trade resources to build settlements, cities and roads across a modular hex map. One notable change from the original is that Zarahemla's official rules include a dedicated variant for two player games, a mode Catan itself only added informally later. The game let its intended audience enjoy the popular Catan system through material drawn from their own scripture.
