Thurn and Taxis is a board game designed by Karen and Andreas Seyfarth, published in German in 2006 by Hans im Glück and in English by Rio Grande Games. Players compete to build postal routes and post offices across Bavaria and the surrounding region, echoing the real historical role of the House of Thurn und Taxis, which ran much of Europe's postal service from the 16th century onward. Success comes from extending unbroken chains of route cards into longer and more efficient networks while claiming bonus tiles for postal offices along the way. The game won the prestigious Spiel des Jahres award in 2006, cementing its place among the leading German-style strategy games of its decade.
