Booleo

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Booleo, stylized bOOleO, is a strategy card game built around the rules of boolean logic, designed by Jonathan Brandt, Chris Kampf and Sean P. Dennis and published by Tessera Games LLC. It was developed in 2008 and first published in 2009. Two players compete using a 64 card deck that includes gate cards standing for the boolean operators AND, OR and XOR, NOT cards, and Initial Binary cards, racing to be the first to complete a logical pyramid. Players build their pyramids upward by placing gate cards whose outputs, worked out according to real boolean rules, become the inputs used by the cards placed in the row above, so every placement has to be logically valid. NOT cards let a player invalidate part of an opponent's pyramid while trying to protect their own, adding a defensive layer to what is otherwise a race to complete a working logical structure first. The game can be expanded to four or more players by combining multiple decks.
