Big Eyes, Small Mouth

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Big Eyes, Small Mouth (BESM) is a tabletop role-playing game originally produced by Guardians of Order in 1997 and designed to simulate the action of anime and manga. Created by Mark C. MacKinnon, it uses the Updated Tri-Stat System, a flexible point-based character-building framework meant to support many genres and settings within one anime-inspired rule set. The game has been revised across four editions, with a second edition in 2001, a third in 2007, and a fourth in 2020 published under Dyskami Publishing Company and Japanime Games after Guardians of Order's closure.
