Machi Koro is a Japanese tabletop city-building game designed by Masao Suganuma and illustrated by Noboru Hotta, first published in Japan in 2012 by Grounding, Inc. before being licensed for English-language release by IDW Games and later Pandasaurus Games; the title translates from Japanese roughly as Dice Town. The base game seats two to four players, expanding to as many as five with later expansions, and each player takes the role of a town mayor competing to be the first to complete four major landmark buildings. A turn has three phases: rolling one or two dice, collecting income from any establishment cards activated by that roll, and then spending accumulated coins to construct new establishments or landmarks. Establishments fall into five categories, landmarks, primary industries, secondary industries, restaurants and major establishments, each generating income under different triggering conditions, so a player's growing city produces increasingly complex chains of income on each roll. The game has since been translated into eleven languages and received several industry award nominations.
