Isle of Skye: From Chieftain to King

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Isle of Skye: From Chieftain to King is a tile-laying board game designed by Alexander Pfister and Andreas Pelikan and first published in 2015. Set on the Scottish island for which it is named, the game casts each player as a clan chieftain competing to build the strongest kingdom by acquiring and arranging hexagonal landscape tiles. A distinctive auction mechanic drives the tile trading: each player sets a private price for the tiles they offer for sale, and rivals choose whether to buy at that price, refuse it, or accept a tile for free if no one buys it, which then penalizes the seller. The game supports two to five players and rewards players who correctly value both their own tiles and their opponents' willingness to pay.
