Groo: The Game

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Groo: The Game is a card game first published by Archangel Studios in 1997 and later reissued by Steve Jackson Games. It is based on the long running comic book Groo the Wanderer created by Sergio Aragones, carrying over the series wandering barbarian and its irreverent, comic sensibility into a tabletop format. Two to four players compete to construct the largest town, using cards that represent buildings and the chaos the wandering hero Groo tends to leave in his wake, since in the source comic Groo is famous for accidentally destroying whatever town he visits. The game blends light strategy with the comic's slapstick tone, appealing to existing readers of the Groo comics as much as to card game players unfamiliar with the source material.
