The Fellowship of the Ring (board game)

The Fellowship of the Ring is a 1983 board game published by Iron Crown Enterprises, adapting the opening movements of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings into a playable tabletop format. It carries players through the story's earliest events, beginning with the hobbits fleeing the Shire ahead of the pursuing Nazgul and continuing through their journey to Rivendell and the formation of the Fellowship, up to the point where the Fellowship sets out toward Mordor. Iron Crown Enterprises produced the game as part of its wider Middle-earth product line, which also included the company's better known Middle-earth Role Playing tabletop role playing game, giving the two related titles a shared setting and visual style even though they use different rules systems and different modes of play.
