Ratrace (game)

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Ratrace is a family economic board game designed by Alfons Rubbens and published by the British games company Waddingtons in 1967. Billed as the madcap game of social climbing, it puts two to six players in the roles of characters trying to claw their way up the social ladder, from the Working Class to High Society, while accumulating both status and cash along the way. The player who ends the game with the greatest combined wealth and social standing wins, and the design's satirical framing of social mobility as a literal race around the board gave it lasting notice among collectors of vintage British board games from the Waddingtons stable.
