Kremlin is a board game designed by Urs Hostettler that satirizes the power struggles inside the pre-glasnost Soviet government of the 1980s. First published in 1986 by the Swiss company Fata Morgana Spiele under its original German title Kreml, it reached English-language players in 1988 through an Avalon Hill edition. Players control a set of politician cards arranged into a pyramid-shaped hierarchy of Kremlin power, spending the game promoting, demoting and exiling rival politicians while maneuvering their own toward the top of the structure. A player wins by having their politician wave from the reviewing rostrum during three non-consecutive years of play, or, failing that, by holding the highest-ranking politician still standing once the eleventh turn concludes. The game's satirical treatment of Soviet bureaucratic infighting and succession politics earned it a 1988 Origins Award for Best Boardgame Covering the Period 1900 to 1946.
