HeroQuest is an adventure board game first released in 1989 by the American manufacturer Milton Bradley in partnership with the British company Games Workshop, with a modern re release from Hasbro's Avalon Hill label in 2021. Designed by Stephen Baker, it functions as an entry level fantasy role playing system in which one player serves as the game master, controlling monsters and traps, while up to four other players each control a hero exploring dungeons, fighting monsters, casting spells and searching for treasure. The game is played by two to five participants and helped popularize dungeon crawling mechanics for a mainstream board game audience during the late 1980s and 1990s.
