Dungeon Twister is a strategy board game with a fantasy theme, created by French designer Christophe Boelinger and first published in France in 2004, with English and German editions following in 2005 that carried the game to a wider international audience. Boelinger, also known for games including Halloween Party, A Dog's Life, and Snowboard, built Dungeon Twister around a dungeon crawl setting in which two to four players maneuver teams of characters through a shifting tile-based dungeon, using each character's distinct abilities to fight, sabotage, and outmaneuver rival teams. The game's title refers to its signature mechanic of rotating or twisting dungeon room tiles, which changes the connections between rooms and can trap or redirect opposing characters as the layout shifts during play. Its popularity led to numerous expansions released across several language editions, including Paladins and Dragons, Forces of Darkness, and Prison, each adding new characters, rooms, and rule variations to the base game. The board game also produced a video game adaptation, released for PlayStation 3 through the PlayStation Network in July 2012, though this digital version received a negative critical reception. A 2014 crowdfunding campaign later aimed to bring the game to tablets and smartphones.
