Daybreak is a cooperative board game for one to four players that models humanity's technological and political response to climate change, casting participants as major world regions working together to decarbonize their economies before crisis events overwhelm the planet. It was designed by Matt Leacock, best known for creating the cooperative game Pandemic, together with Matteo Menapace, and was first published in November 2023 by CMYK, with Schmidt Spiele handling the German-language edition. Players balance building clean infrastructure, managing political capital and responding to worsening climate disasters, winning only if the whole table can bring global emissions to net zero before conditions spiral out of control, making it a direct thematic and mechanical descendant of Leacock's earlier cooperative design work.
