Caribbean (board game)

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Caribbean is a board game for two to four players designed by Michail Antonow and Jens-Peter Schliemann and first published in 2004. The design places players in the Caribbean region during the age of sail, competing for trade, territory and treasure across the islands and surrounding waters typical of hobby strategy games from this period of German-style board game design. The game drew industry recognition on release, earning a nomination for the 2005 Vuoden Peli Adult Game of the Year award, a Finnish prize given annually to games judged best suited to adult and family hobby play. As with many titles from this design era, Caribbean emphasizes indirect competition for shared resources over direct player elimination.
