The Buffy the Vampire Slayer Collectible Card Game is a trading card game based on the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, designed by Chaz Elliott and David Eckhard and released in December 2001 by Score Entertainment. The base set, called Pergamum Prophecy, contained 200 cards and was distributed through 60-card starter decks and booster packs sold in both hobby and mass retail outlets. Two expansions followed, Angel's Curse and Class of '99, bringing the total across all releases to 629 unique cards. The game supports two to ten players, plays in roughly 20 minutes, and calls on card playing and basic arithmetic skills. Score Entertainment lost the licensing rights by January 2004, ending further expansions, and the game is now out of print.

lead paragraph, origin-year
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer Collectible Card Game is an out-of-print trading card game based on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It was released in December 2001 by Score Entertainment. As of January 2004, Score Entertainment no longer holds the rights to this game. Hence, no further production runs or expansions for the game are planned. As of 2006, the game continues to have an active player base. Virtual expansions, or "dream cards" are created and approved by a players committee known as the Watchers Council Association. They are also responsible for worldwide player rankings, current rulings, and tournament organization and support.
