Kille (card game)

Kille, also known by regional names including Harlequin, Cambio, Campio and Kamfio, is a card game played with a special deck of cards and tracing its ancestry to a medieval French gambling game. It became especially popular in Sweden during the 1750s and has remained in play since, making it one of the oldest card games still regularly played there. The game belongs to what researchers call the cuckoo group of card games, in which players try to avoid being left holding an unwanted card at the end of a round, and it is normally played by anywhere from three to as many as thirteen players at once, a wide range that reflects its long history as a flexible social and gambling pastime rather than a game designed around a single fixed table size.
