Coloretto

Matching and Shedding Card Games

Coloretto is a card game designed by Michael Schacht and originally published in 2003, in which players collect cards depicting colored chameleons that can change color during play. The published edition supports three to five players, though rules for a two player variant are made available separately by the publisher Rio Grande Games, alongside editions from Abacus and 999 Games and rulebooks printed in both English and French. On a turn a player either adds a card to one of several shared rows or takes an entire row into their own collection, trying to gather sets of a single color while avoiding taking too many different colors, since only a limited number of colors count toward a player's final score. A typical game takes fifteen to thirty minutes to set up and play, is aimed at players aged eight and up, and is built around a set collection mechanism with a moderate element of chance.
