Slapjack

Slapjack, also called Slaps, is a simple matching card game usually played by children, often serving as a first introduction to playing cards, for three or four players though it can accommodate as few as two or as many as eight. The dealer splits a standard deck evenly among the players, who take turns playing their top card face up onto a central pile; whenever a jack appears, every player races to slap the pile first, and the winner takes the whole pile and adds it to the bottom of their own hand. The game is related to the simpler slapping games generally called Snap and sits between the older game Beggar-My-Neighbour and the faster modern game Egyptian Ratscrew in complexity, and it is sometimes known by the alternate name Heart Attack for the reflexive scramble each jack provokes.
