Projective Set (game)

Projective Set, often shortened to ProSet, is a real-time card game derived from the earlier pattern-matching game Set. Players race to spot valid Sets among cards displayed with colored dots, calling them out as soon as they are found rather than taking turns. The game's name refers to its underlying mathematical structure: its rules correspond to projective spaces defined over the finite field with two elements, giving the game a genuine connection to combinatorial geometry alongside its role as a fast-paced party card game. This dual nature, playable casually yet mathematically rich, has made Projective Set especially popular at events such as the Canada/USA Mathcamp, where it is played both for fun and as an illustration of the underlying mathematics.
