One-card

One-card is a shedding-type card game played with an ordinary 52-card poker deck, placing it in the same broad family as Crazy Eights. Each player begins with a hand of cards and takes turns matching the rank or suit of the card on top of the discard pile, with the winner being the first player to empty their hand while the other players try to empty theirs as well before someone else does. Despite its simple core mechanic, regional house rules add extra twists to the basic shedding pattern, and the game is noted as being commonly played in South Korea, Finland and the Netherlands, three countries where it has become a familiar casual pastime among card players rather than a game tied to one single national origin.
