World Rowing is the international governing body for rowing, founded 25 June 1892 in Turin, Italy, by delegates from France, Switzerland, Belgium, Adriatica and Italy, making it the oldest international sports federation in the Olympic movement. It was officially the Federation Internationale des Societes d'Aviron (FISA) and is still formally designated by that name, World Rowing being the operational designation adopted later. It has been headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland since 1922.
