Horse Racing Classics

The historic flat and jump races that anchor the thoroughbred racing calendar and carry the sport's oldest prestige, such as the Epsom Derby, run each year at Epsom Downs and the best known of the British Classic races. Belongs here: single signature races, usually for three-year-old thoroughbreds, whose prestige comes from their history and their place in a national racing calendar. Does not belong here: team or league championships, and season-long points series in other sports.
