The Thin Red Line (wargame)

Modern Conquest and War Games

The Thin Red Line, subtitled A Game of the Battle of Waterloo, is a two-player board wargame published in 1979 by Yaquinto Publications. One player commands the French forces under Napoleon and the other commands the Anglo-Allied forces under the Duke of Wellington. It comes with 275 counters, a large hex map and a 24-page rulebook, and has been described as of more than moderate complexity. The sequence of play covers mutual fire and melee, routs after failed morale checks and advances after melee, and each player keeps a roster sheet to track unit morale. Units can form line, column, square and all-around formations. Scenarios include the full battle, a short game ending when the Prussians arrive, and two what-if scenarios. It shares a system with The Great Redoubt, which Yaquinto introduced the same year.
