Sixth Fleet: Modern Naval Combat in the Mediterranean

Modern Conquest and War Games

Sixth Fleet: Modern Naval Combat in the Mediterranean is a two-player naval wargame from 1985, designed by Joseph M. Balkoski and published by Victory Games. It is set in a Cold War conflict in the Mediterranean Sea. One player commands the United States fleet and the other commands the Soviet forces. Each turn is divided into three phases, and in them the players assign ships and aircraft to detect the enemy and to fight. Combat is resolved with dice on a hexagon grid. Scenarios are of very different lengths, from about one hour to more than twenty hours, and a typical session is rated at about six hours.
