Neutron is a two-player strategy game for a 5x5 square board, created by Robert A. Kraus in 1978. Each player has a set of soldiers, and a special piece called the neutron is moved by both sides. Every piece, soldier or neutron, moves in a straight line, orthogonally or diagonally, and must go as far as it can until it meets the board edge or another piece. A turn consists of moving the neutron first and then one of your own soldiers, except that the first player does not move the neutron on their first turn. There is no capturing. The game is won by moving the neutron onto your own first row, the row where your soldiers start, or by stalemating the opponent so that they cannot complete their turn. The Ludii Portal classifies it as a modern board game of the race and reach type, whose aim is to bring the neutron to your baseline or stop your opponent from moving it.
