Mille is a two-player rummy game that is played in Canada, where it is said to have originated in Montreal before being brought to Toronto in the 1990s and growing steadily in popularity. It is nearly always played for stakes. Two identical standard 52-card decks without jokers are shuffled together to make a deck of 104 cards, and each player is dealt 15 cards. The aim is to get rid of every card in hand by drawing, discarding and forming sets of three or more cards of equal rank. Twos are wild, and there is a bonus for collecting all eight cards of one rank. Cards carry unequal values, so that the queen of spades is worth 100 points, the jack of diamonds 50 points and each two 20 points, which makes scoring as important as going out. This entry describes the game as set out on the Pagat card game rules site.
