Down with the King is a political card game set in a fantasy world, dated 1981 by its Board Game Matcher listing and designed by Glenn Rahman and Kenneth Rahman. The players are nobles who plot to overthrow the king, so they must cooperate to bring him down although only one of them can take the crown, which keeps betrayal always in view. The game is played with several decks of cards. Players earn prestige and influence points to recruit characters, and they hurt opponents with natural disasters, plagues, interrogations and other political troubles. Of nineteen possible actions each turn a player may take only two, and nobody is eliminated early because a killed player returns as the heir, often seeking revenge. It plays two to six, about two hours.
