Bataille de la Marne 1914

Modern Conquest and War Games

Bataille de la Marne 1914 is a board wargame published in 1982 by the French game publisher Descartes Editeur. It recreates the First Battle of the Marne, the September 1914 engagement on the Western Front of the First World War in which French and British forces halted the advancing German army east of Paris and ended Germany's hope of a quick victory in the west. Players command French, British and German units across the battle's sector of northern France, moving formations and resolving combat to refight the historical campaign or explore alternative outcomes. As with other wargames from this period and publisher, the design uses a mapboard, counters representing individual military units, and a rulebook governing movement, supply and combat resolution, though the English-language Wikipedia article on the title remains a short stub with few further mechanical details confirmed.
