This War of Mine: The Board Game

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

This War of Mine: The Board Game is a 2017 Polish cooperative board game published by Awaken Realms and designed by Michal Oracz and Jakub Wiśniewski as an adaptation of the video game This War of Mine. Players jointly guide a group of civilians sheltering in a damaged building in the fictional city of Pogoren, a setting based mainly on the siege of Sarajevo. Days are spent building appliances and digging out the shelter, nights are spent scavenging or defending it, and tokens track each character's fatigue, hunger, illness, misery and wounds. A Book of Scripts of about 2,000 entries supplies ethical dilemmas, and a game can run five hours or more and often ends with the death of every character. It can be played solitaire or cooperatively by two to six people, and it was funded by a 2016 Kickstarter campaign.
