Kraken-Alarm

Dexterity and Physical Skill Games

Kraken-Alarm is a children's board game designed by the German designer Oliver Igelhaut and published by Kosmos in Germany in 2010, later released in France as SOS Octopus. The players act as an expedition team on a sea where an octopus father lives with his young son. Whenever a boat sails close to the son, the father swings a tentacle, and an unlucky player has his boat knocked. The design joins a memory game, in which players recall animal chips hidden in the sea area, with a phase of luck while the tentacle swings. It is made for two to four players and takes about twenty minutes. It won the German children's game prize Deutscher Kinderspiele Preis in 2010, was nominated for Kinderspiel des Jahres, won the French As d'Or for children in 2011 and was nominated for the Danish Guldbrikken in 2012.
