Escoba del 15, also called simply Escoba, Escova or Escopa, is the Spanish and Portuguese variant of the Italian fishing card game Scopa. The name means broom and refers to the moment when a player sweeps every card from the board in a single turn. The game is usually played with a traditional Spanish deck of forty cards called naipes, and a standard deck can be adapted by removing the eights, nines and tens. Each turn a player tries to match one card from the hand with cards on the board so that the total is fifteen, and the captured cards go into a scoring pile. Points are awarded for the most cards, the most coins, the most sevens, the seven of coins, and for each escoba. The first player to reach twenty-one points wins.
