Decrypto

Deduction and Guessing Games

Decrypto is a modern board game dated to 2018 in which two teams try to communicate secret codes to their own side while keeping the opposing side guessing. On each turn one member of a team receives a code and gives their teammates clues so that they can decode it, while the opponents listen and try to intercept the meaning of the clues. The game is described as a team game for three to eight players, with sessions lasting about forty five minutes, and the central tension is that every clue must be clear enough for friends to decode yet vague enough that rivals cannot work out the pattern. It belongs to the family of word association and deduction games, and its play rests on remembering what earlier clues have revealed to both sides.
