Axis & Allies: Europe 1940 is a strategy board game that recreates the European theatre of the Second World War. Two to six players command armies, navies and air forces, moving them across a large printed map, roughly 35 by 32 inches, that includes neutral territories whose status can change as the war unfolds. Play centres on area majority and area movement, with dice used to resolve combat, and a full game is long, running to about six hours. The board is designed to be joined with its companion, Pacific 1940, so that the two maps together support a global game with up to six players. The edition listed here dates from 2010 and has been published under the Avalon Hill name and later by other publishers.
