Abaku is a numeric board game dated 2008 by its Board Game Matcher listing, for one to four players who enjoy numbers, calculations and puzzles. Players use tiles to build arithmetic operations on the board, either horizontally or vertically, by adding one or more tiles to those already placed. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, squares and cubes of whole numbers and square and cube roots are all allowed, and each new operation must contain or touch tiles already on the board and read correctly from left to right and from top to bottom. The winner is the player who scores the most points by combining tile values with the premium squares of the board. The listing also describes the game as a teaching aid for mathematics, for ages eight and up and about an hour of play.
