Frosthaven

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Frosthaven is a cooperative campaign board game for one to four players, designed by Isaac Childres and first published in 2022 by Cephalofair Games, with licensed editions from several other publishers worldwide. It is a standalone tactical combat game and the successor to Gloomhaven. Players lead mercenaries from a remote northern outpost through a campaign of about one hundred scenarios, fighting creatures such as the Algox, the Lurkers and rogue machines. Instead of buying gear from a shop, players craft items from raw materials, and the campaign advances through seasonal cycles, event cards, outpost building and permanent village upgrades. At the table the play rests on hand management, limits on what players may say about their cards, and positioning on a hexagon grid. A session runs about three hours, and the game is playable solo or with a group.
