Ms. Monopoly is a variant of the Monopoly board game that Hasbro released in 2019. It swaps the familiar mascot Rich Uncle Pennybags for a young woman described as his niece, and it replaces the buyable properties with inventions that women created or helped create, such as Wi-Fi, Spanx shapewear and chocolate chip cookies. Rules differ from the standard game in several ways: women begin with 1,900 dollars and collect 240 dollars for passing Go while men begin with 1,500 and collect 200, there are no houses but headquarters take the place of hotels, inventions cannot be mortgaged, and railroads become ride share spaces that move a token forward for free. The game ends once every invention is bought, and the richest player wins. On release it drew mostly negative reviews, including criticism that it overlooked Lizzie Magie, creator of The Landlord's Game.
